Description

Our Nofia® homopolymers have an exceptionally high limiting oxygen index of 65%, which makes it particularly well suited to be used as FR additives. Nofia homopolymers are transparent, high flowing polymers with a glass transition temperature of about 90-105°C. The different grades have different molecular weights making them suitable for a wide array of applications. From textile fibers to electrical cables to BOPET and rPET.

Nofia® copolymers are polyphosphonate-co-carbonates. A range of compositions which can be produced from high to low phosphonate content. The copolymers have good impact resistance and glass transition temperatures while maintaining high melt flow and a high limiting oxygen index. They are typically used in, however not limited to, polycarbonate or PC blends based materials

Our oligomers are low molecular weight, reactive flame retardant additives. They’re phosphorus based additives with phenolic end groups suitable for flame retarding thermoset resins, such as unsaturated polyesters, epoxy, polyurethane and polyurea. They are transparent and highly soluble in the typical solvents used in thermoset resin processing. Additionally our oligomers are dispersed prior for us in textile or protective coatings.

Nofia® flame retardants

In PET fibers and recycled PET applications

Nofia® is the world’s only commercial polymeric, halogen-free flame retardant for polyesters. Unlike small-molecule additives, its polymeric structure prevents migration, ensuring permanent flame resistance even after repeated washing.

Melt-processable and downstream applicable, it eliminates material waste, downtime, and costly process steps. Nofia® enables flexible phosphorus content (3,000–25,000 ppm), compatibility with recycled PET, and improved fiber performance, advancing sustainable, high-efficiency flame-retardant polyester production.
