The story of Nofia® polyphosphonates

The story of Nofia® Polyphosphonates begins with Dr. Dieter Freitag’s mission to make fire safety safer. Seeing the risks of toxic halogenated flame retardants, he pioneered a new class of polymeric, non-halogenated flame retardants — powerful enough to protect, clean enough to trust.

In 2015, FRX Polymers introduced Nofia to the world, crafted through green chemistry: solvent-free, zero waste, and 100% atom efficient. Free from halogens, PFAS, and melamine, Nofia is permanently built into materials so it won’t leach or fade — delivering lasting performance for electronics, automotive, textiles, and building materials.

Today, Nofia Solutions continues Dr. Freitag’s vision, earning global recognition for sustainable fire safety innovations — proving that eco-friendly flame retardants can protect both people and the planet.
